Alka Harmony Foundation In memory of Alka Bhatnagar
About the Foundation

A registered Indian not-for-profit, working on small problems with measurable goals.

Established in 2019 in memory of Alka Bhatnagar (1958–2019), the Foundation runs programmes across rural entrepreneurship, girls' education, and urban biodiversity. The team is small. The targets are specific. The work is hands-on.

Our vision

Useful work in the places it matters.

Constructive, hands-on programmes in areas critical to India's development. A platform where competent, like-minded people can apply their time and skills to specific, locally-rooted problems and see the result.

Our mission

Six goals through 2030.

A specific five-year plan running through 31 March 2030. Each goal has a programme behind it; each programme is reported on its own page.

What we're aiming at by 2030

Six measurable goals across three pillars.

How we work

Four operating principles.

  1. 01 Local first

We do work where we can drive there. Programmes are anchored in cities and districts where the team can show up in person.

  2. 02 Specific over abstract

Five-year goals are numbers, not adjectives. Every programme reports concrete progress.

  3. 03 Hands-on

Mentors work alongside entrepreneurs. Interns sit with families. Nests are installed by our team, not delegated.

  4. 04 Transparent operating costs

We disclose what we don't yet do (e.g. paid stipends for MSW interns) so donors know what their gift unlocks.
