Alka Bhatnagar
11 March 1958 — 27 November 2019
She gave generously, locally, and without fanfare. The Foundation carries that same work forward, on a wider canvas.
The work was small, persistent, and close to home.
Her giving was direct. Most of it never had a name on it. The Foundation continues the same work, just with more hands and a wider reach.
- Meals at orphanages
Organised regular meals at orphanages and old-age homes near home.
- Feeding animals
Fed strays and birds daily, kept water out for them in summer.
- School scholarships
Quietly supported girls in nearby schools so they could continue their education.
- Help where needed
Stepped in for households facing illness, debt, or daily emergencies.
Same work, more hands.
Alka Harmony Foundation was established in 2019, the year of Alka's passing. It was set up to continue what she had been doing for decades, only with more people and at a scale she could not have managed alone. She fed animals where she lived; we install sparrow nests in cities. She supported nearby girls in school; we build scholarship programmes that reach across schools. She helped families in front of her; we run apprenticeship programmes that train rural entrepreneurs.
Same care, different reach. Useful work, done close to the people it affects, by people who show up.
Carry her work forward.
The Foundation runs entirely on donations and volunteer time.
